After watching the two episode premiere of Ahsoka, and not feeling a great deal from it, I ended up going back and watching the first episode of Andor. And then just watched all of Andor again by accident đź’€
Andor is incredible. I actually think it might be perfect. It’s Star Wars for adults. It’s such an angry show, it’s so bitter, so human, and powerful. Its story is so captivatingly intense and important. It’s so visceral and aggressive towards a system that feels like an overwhelming and impossible undertaking. It reaches a level of such emotional maturity, and compelling storytelling, it doesn’t actually FEEL like Star Wars when you watch it. And it just gets BETTER AND BETTER AS YOU WATCH IT?!?!?
It’s just baffling to me that this came from Disney? The sheer QUALITY of this show feels like it could’ve been an HBO show or something. It shows what you can accomplish with actual sets and locations, and putting characters and storytelling ABOVE lore and fan service.
You just feel things when you watch Andor. It challenges you as a viewer. It challenges your beliefs and compassion towards things, and questions your own morals of what is, and isn’t right. And I think that’s just so cool.
It might just be… the best Star Wars… maybe ever?
